The Neuromorphics Lab (CompNet) has been working with NASA Langley on a Center Innovation Fund (CIF) under my supervision with the goal of developing neuromorphic algorithms and hardware for vision and learning in unmanned aerial vehicles. The work, whose basic science and technology implementations have been seeded by CELEST, has the goal to train autonomous vehicles to avoid collisions in the airspace based on learning in realistic virtual environments. The CIF has also the goal to implement neuromorphic hardware able to support visually-based learning algorithms. This effort will be coordinated with the BU partner Integrated Circuits and System Design Group at the Boston University Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
