Artificial intelligence startup Neurala Inc. today added “explainability technology” to its vision AI software that it says can identify objects in an image that present an anomaly or cause other problems.
Vision AI software company Neurala announced today a new strategic partnership with global manufacturing leader IMA Group. The partnership will deliver AI solutions for industrial machines, focused on field testing of AI that enables monitoring and provides actionable insights from data collected through industrial internet of things (IIoT) systems.
There has been a lot of hype around the potential for AI in the manufacturing industry, but historically, AI has been too expensive or complex to deploy at scale. But now, with pressure to maintain quality products and keep up with irregular consumer demands with fewer people on the factory floor, new solutions are emerging.
While machine vision has been around for more than 60 years, the recent surge in the popularity of deep learning has elevated this sometimes misunderstood technology to the attention of major manufacturers globally.
In manufacturing, faults and defects on products inevitably occur from time to time. Industrial inspection, then, becomes critical. In this regard, AI can play a significant role.
