Over the past few months, I have shared thoughts on Physical Intelligence, a new breed of AI where digital meets physical. Physical AI encapsulates Analog Devices’ bold vision for the future of AI at the edge.

Earlier this year, I have joined Analog Devices as VP of Emergent AI, leading a mission to embed intelligence where the physical world begins, namely, at the sensor edge. In the brain, sensing IS intelligence, and while biology is becoming more intertwined with technology, the converse is true, namely, technology is becoming more “biological”, in particular, as it pertains sensing and AI computing.

Our focus is on pioneering brain-inspired systems through multimodal sensing, energy-efficient compute, and AI optimization for real-world applications like robotics, smart grids, and healthcare.linkedin+2. The Emergent AI team at Analog Devices is building next-generation tactile intelligence for robotics, with multimodal sensing, visuo-tactile fusion, and sub-millisecond reflex control, as well as architecting ultra-low-power, ultra-low-latency compute platforms for embodied AI systems. Physical Intelligence bridges biology and robotics, inspired by nature’s efficiency to create machines that are able to understand and act.linkedin+1​​

As the next wave of AI leaves the cloud to make its appearance in the physical world to help humans being more efficient at dull and repeatable tasks, the next wave of AI will need to face the unforgiving nature of the real world, from dexterous robots to adaptive industrial systems.
