By Massimiliano “Max” VersaceAI executive, computational neuroscientist, and founder working across robotics, brain-inspired AI, and commercialization. A robot can have a beautiful answer and still drop the glass. That is
By Dr. Massimiliano “Max” VersaceAI executive, scientist, Neurala co-founder and former CEO; Global Head, Emergent AI at Analog Devices. Intelligence becomes a different engineering problem when it has to operate
It was a pleasure speaking at the EDGE AI FOUNDATION meeting in London, where a stimulating conversation developed around new technologies shaping the future of Edge AI and humanoid robotics,
The 2026 Space Foundation induced into the Space Foundation Hall of Fame to the AI technology my colleagues & friends and I started years ago at Boston University. To the
Honored to be in Colorado Springs today at the Space Foundation symposium and to see work we started years ago recognized in the 2026 Space Technology Hall of Fame. 📸
Title Two decades ago, AI was not really a market. It was barely a pitch deck, let alone a product roadmap. AI was still mostly confined to academic research, and
In 2006, AI was not mainstream. One of my earlier memories of Neurala is pitching the idea of using Neural Networks to solve problems in robotics, computer vision, defense, biology,
Robotics forces AI to operate in a world where latency, uncertainty, power, sensors, control and physical consequences all matter. Drawing from computational neuroscience, neuromorphic computing and years of deploying AI…
New AI architectures are easy to admire and difficult to evaluate. Drawing from my experience as a computational neuroscientist, founder and CEO, I look at how scientific evidence, intellectual property,…
NASA-funded AI technology enabling autonomous rovers and drones now keeps an eye on conveyor belts Originally published 06/11/2024 on NASA Spinoff Artificial intelligence software designed to learn and analyze Martian
As AI moves from data centers into robots, cameras, factories, vehicles and intelligent sensors, the distinction between the neural architecture and the hardware executing it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain.…
What happens when an AI idea leaves the laboratory and has to survive customers, hardware constraints, venture capital, factories, robots and the physical world? After nearly two decades building Neurala,…
AI unplugged: rethinking energy use with Edge Learning This morning, as I sipped my espresso and watched my dog Noah chase — and fail to catch — a squirrel in
Is AI solely confined to the realm of digital technology, or does it possess the power to profoundly transform our physical reality? John Archibald Wheeler, a pioneering physicist, once encapsulated
Is AI only a ‘digital thing’, or is it radically changing our very physical world?
At RoboBusiness 2019, Neurala’s Max Versace will discuss a new paradigm of data collection and training for artificial intelligence.
This article originally appeared in Enterprise AI – June 11, 2019 by Doug Black Deep learning is still a stick-figure emulation of human learning. DL can be trained to a…
One of the questions we I often get in working with AI is: “Cool… I see this AI never stops learning. But it’s like Transfer Learning, right?…” Although people are
In the race to create artificial intelligence that can rival human-level capabilities, researchers at Boston University’s Neuromorphics Lab are making exciting progress with their Modular Neural Exploring Traveling Agent (MoNETA)
As researchers strive to create artificial intelligence that rivals the capabilities of the human brain, a key challenge has been translating the brain's intricate synaptic connections and neural dynamics into…
